Things to do

Butterfly Tour at Butterfly Conservatory of Goa- To a mystic land where butterflies reside - Welcome to Mystic Meadows Conservatory. The first Butterfly Conservatory here in Goa, this is in Ponda, the Spice and temple town. Walk through a re-created tropical forest here with streams and endemic plants, belonging to the very interesting Dr. Jyoti and Yashodan Heblekar. Visit here not just for the over 133 species of photo-documented butterflies, but also for the exceptional efforts of a few ordinary people for an extraordinary cause.

Trip to Spice Plantation with lunch- There has to be a source for all those lovely spices that go into making those lip-smacking delicacies that Goa is now renowned for, and there's no better way to figure this out than at a spice plantation. Head over to a Spice Farm where our local guide will take you on a walk through the fields where you learn about what each spice can be used for and how its grown.

Trip to Dudhsagar waterfall- One of India's most stunning waterfalls, Dudhsagar, on the Goa-Karnataka border, lives up to its name with milky white froth from a waterfall 600 metres tall. Overlooking the thick tropical forest covering the valley below, the waterfalls are a popular trekking destination. A 70-kilometre drive from Panjim would lead to Molem where you continue on (Maruti) Gypsy cars to the base of the falls.

Jet Airways, GoAir, Indigo, Air India, Qatar Airways and Air Arabia are among the major airlines that have scheduled flights to Goa.

Rail

  • Madgaon and Vasco Da Gama are two major railway junctions in Goa. The South Western Railway and the Konkan Railway lines service the state of Goa. The former is a colonial era line that connects the port town of Vasco with Belgaum, Hubli etc. Panaji, the state capital, does not have a railway station.
